THE PLACE FOR EXCEPTIONAL HAIRDRESSING

INTERVIEW WITH KELLY GRANT, CO-OWNER OF OUR PLACE SALON.

Kelly Grant and Clive Allwright from Our Place Salon in Sydney recently joined Refoil. We caught up and Kelly was kind enough to share her “Refoil experience” with us .

R: What was the transition like from supermarket foil to Refoil pre-cuts medium

K: At first I was a bit apprehensive. The biggest challenge was the thickness. My first set of foils was the worst in ten years. I couldn’t get close enough to the roots and I found it hard to manage. R: Oh no, that sounds terrible. So, you didn’t feel like handing in the towel? K: No way. I just figured the introduction needed to come slowly. So, I instructed my team to use Refoil on days the salon wasn’t too busy. By my second set of foils I was completely converted. Goodbye seventeen years of supermarket foil and hello Refoil!

R: What made you persist?

K:  No more cutting foil! Our team has become much more productive in every sense of the word. Staff hanging out in the back room has always been a problem in every salon I’ve ever worked at. Now we have a full team on the salon floor present to what’s going on. Our Place Salon‘s culture is all about creating a homely feel. Clive Allwright, my business partner always says: “Would you invite someone into your home and sit them in your bedroom?  Now we’re all out of the back room (bedroom) and in the lounge room taking care of our guests. Happy clients, happy team and happy business owners.

R: How do clients react when you inform them that you’ve made the switch to Refoil?

K: I love talking to my clients about Refoil. The best part for me is when I explain the “How big are your balls?” recycling initiative. It’s great to give my clients information on how the salon now recycles foil and even how they can get involved at home too.
